Walking back home. Part 3

I know you can never go home again - you can't - but what about the memories you created on this trip. When you go back now, will they be part of the memories you mourn? I come from a small town - wasn't much progress there as a kid - we got a new library. But since I've been gone they have changed it even more. Opened this, closed that, torn down and built up the neighborhood McDonalds. Most of the stuff is still there, but the things that have changed are jarring. I wonder about my next trip back when I see those things changed.Will I noticed and care about them too?

I actually know a couple who run a luxury sailing charter business here in Key West who have sailed down there as part of Cynthia's flotilla. They are also supporting Diana Nyad in her attempt to swim the distance as soon as she has a weather window. I think it is her second or third attempt. She is 61.

That is just freaking awesome. I think I was 13 when my parents got me one of my coolest birthday gifts ever - a chemistry set... A few months ago I was looking around at a thrift store and found one just like my original and had to buy it.Certain moments of a childhood really set up camp and stay with you for life.I'm sure this will stay with him.

My only problem with this is it looks like the rooms start at over $1,000 a night.Staycations were created because people wanted to 'get away' without paying a lot. If you are gonna drop $1k per night, do it 1/2 way around the world.

I have no idea what's wrong with me - after reading this I now want to live in the keys on a boat. Or rather, I did, until I got to the part about "no internet pornography" and I think that is how you talked me out of it. Don't get me wrong, I want friends that live on boats, I just want to keep my house on land - or rather - on stilts, or whatever it is they are mandating these days.

I am very familiar with the spot that this article is talking about. It makes for a great spot to hold on to when trying to stumble home from one or both of the bars in that area. I wonder who's idea it was to put a destination like that on the sign? Was there a group of guys standing around looking at a blank piece of wood asking where would be the next location? I would have loved to hear how they came to their decision.

That's a shame...It sounds like the guy was having some tough times. The Half Shell Raw Bar and Turtle Kraals (they are next to each other) are two of my favorite Key West bars. Turtle Kraals has turtle races... with hotties in tight tee's screaming and jumping up and down. I love Key West!
